Encaustic Monoprinting

This is an introduction to the use of encaustics (wax) on paper.  You will learn several methods of doing monoprints with colored waxes.  We will alternate turns using a specialized heating box and plate to make prints using specialty papers.  This is truly an experience of instant gratification, as the wax bonds immediately with the paper.  Come explore the possibilities with this new technique.  Specialty paper will be supplied by the instructor for small fee.

Sensational Silk Scarves

Create one-of-a-kind silk scarves for yourself or a friend! The scarves will be painted with silk paints using watercolor and salt techniques learned in class. Kit fee of $10 includes two 8" x 54" silk scarves and use of fabric paints. Additional blank scarves are available from instructor during class for a fee if you wish to make more than two scarves.

Intro to Airbrush

Learn the basics of airbrushing in this introductory lesson given by Sandy Shelenberger.  Topics covered will be the mechanics and troubleshooting of the airbrush, basic techniques, practice, script and use of stencils.  This is an opportunity to try your hand at the airbrush before investing in the equipment, or learn how to use your own airbrush if you have one.

Adventure in the Creative Process

Discover your creative potential! Sandy will help you bring out your artistic side-even if you think you don't have one.  Try different art techniques without investing in a lot of supplies.  We will do a variety of design exercises in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere.

Time:  6 week class, 1 ½ hours each week
